Education
The Sewing Machine Orphanage understands sewing machines as important artifacts of cultural and family history. These objects bear witness to domestic labor, migration, creativity, the history of manufacturing and international business, and the everyday work of making a life.
We encourage people to view, interact with, and learn from the machines in our care, as well as those held privately in homes and families. Through careful viewing, documentation, and use, sewing machines reveal histories, and our continued connection to them.

Instruction may include vintage sewing machine operation and maintenance, as well as beginner to intermediate sewing skills.
